Haruna introduces herself as a genius, and she knows what she is talking about. This is a girl who reinvented maths and discovered a way to vanquish high-level demons with soup. And she is an elite magical girl... kind of.
Too bad she is the kind of genius who cannot concentrate on anything one bit if the matter at hand does not catch her interest. She cannot even be bothered to remember the names of the people she lives with. She is not a particularly dependable person to send on errands. And she only develops her skills in any given area to the lowest level necessary – which results in her cooking repertoire, for example, being extremely limited.
There must be a very good reason for someone like her to engage in a tiresome and risky activity like demon hunting. And indeed, Haruna has a strong motivation to leave her comfort zone and make sacrifices on the way to her goal. But along the way, she may discover things about herself even she did not expect. She is a girl who cannot be chained down, but even she will fight with everything she has if its for the one thing which has wormed its way into her carefree heart.
